The Pythagorean Theorem

HISTORY

Pythagoras was an ancient Greek mathematician and philosopher. He was the first to prove the Pythagorean Theorem. Before him the Babylonians were using this in their everyday life. Pythagoras was born in Ionia but, later moved to Italy. It was there he formed a group that was half religious and half scientific. Followers of this group were called Pythagoreans.

The Theorem
The Pythagorean theorem lets you find the longest side of a right triangle. That side is called the Hypotanuse. The other shorter sides are called the legs. The Pythagorean Theorem equals A squared + B squared = C squared.

Applications
This can be used in many various situations. For example this can be used in baseball, to find out how far it is from home plate to 2nd base, 1st base being the right angle. Electricians and engineers use this in their jobs almost everyday. This theorem can be used for almost everything.
